Most suitable for adults and young people over 7 years old.
“West Norwood Cemetery has a long and fascinating history, including once being part of the Great North Wood and then being laid out as an ‘arboretal (tree-rich) private cemetery’ before it eventually came under the ownership of Lambeth Council. This history has left behind a splendid mixture of different trees and other plants to be found on the site today, some which have been planted deliberately, alongside others which arrived by natural means and have colonised the cemetery, including some which tell us about a much older history, including back to the Great North Wood. Alongside its trees and flora, the cemetery is also abundant in many different wild animals, ranging from insects tiny and big, through to wild birds and even bats. Come along and learn something about this amazing richness of nature in one of Lambeth and London’s most precious green spaces”.
Meet outside the Visitor Centre just inside the main entrance on the corner of Robson Road and Norwood Road.
