John Johnson Hamilton (1802-1866)

John Johnson Hamilton was a merchant born in Jamaica. He the son of Sophia Reallo, a formerly enslaved person, and a plantation manager, Robert Hamilton. John moved to Britain with his brother. They settled in Liverpool where they first imported palm oil from Africa. John later invested in the railways. John left much of his fortune to the city of Liverpool.
