James Baldwin Brown (1820-1884)

A minister in Clapham and then in Brixton, the Reverend James Baldwin Brown inspired his congregation to help local poor people. His work led to foundation of The Moffat Institute for Christian Works in Vauxhall. The institute provided free education, dinners and social events for adults and children. James contributed to changes in the teachings of the Non-conformist church and wrote extensively on the topic.
