Ellen Ranyard (1810-1879)

Ranyard found her calling whilst visiting poor families to supply them with bibles. Her zeal for distributing bibles evolved in to the London Bible and Domestic Female Mission. The Mission recruited working class women to supply bibles and cleaning products in poor areas. Its work expanded to organising mothers’ meetings, a rescue home and, in 1868, a district nursing scheme.Ellen Ranyard (1810-1879)
