Dr William Marsden (1796-1867)

A surgeon who founded two hospitals, Dr William Marsden was an important medical figure in the 1800s. The first hospital he established was for people living in poverty. The second was dedicated to cancer sufferers, it is now the Royal Marsden. His son Alexander, also a doctor, is buried in the same grave.
