Christopher Pond (1826-1881)
Ponds catering was a familiar sight at stations and on trains until the 1960s.
Restaurant-owner Christopher Pond developed railway catering in Australia. He returned to the UK in 1863 with his business partner, Felix Spiers. They opened and ran high-end restaurants in London and Brighton and grew their railway catering business to 200 railway station buffets and 60 dining cars.
